After winning in KSB 2016 and securing the first place prize of traveling outside the country, I went to the world's largest tournament(probably), EVO 2016.
I will only write my results of EVO.
Pool1:
-----
WB1 vs Dys|Jumpsteady Zerosuit Samus 2-0
First match on Town and City, I got combo'd at 70 with Uair Uair UpB, but I retaliated calmly and won.
Second match, nothing special. Won.
WB2 vs Rockyrodent Cloud 2-0(Streamed)
Usual Cloud match. Played 2 times and won.
WSF vs Ikez 2-0 Pikmin Olimar
Surprisingly, a female player.
I thought it'd be fine, but they were good and I panicked lol
WF vs TOG|FSLink DD,Ness 2-0
Had a lot of experience with both characters, so I won with no problems.
Winners side.
Pool2:
-----
WB1 vs The Easel Corrin 2-0
Listened to the foreign Corrin voice and was defeated by the voice that went Haaahhnnª(idk how to translate this well sorry)
They were good so I panicked but I even got footstools and won
WSF vs False Shiek 2-0
Knew from Brawl that they were a good player, and even saw them have good results at CEO, so I was really worried.
They were open to the footstools and the beans so I won
WF vs Shaky Ness 2-1
Another strong Brawl player who plays Ness.
I had played a lot of vs. Ness, but they were really good at hitting back(idk English term for this)
I messed up preventing the recovery like 15 times but I got footstool Shoryu and barely won
Winners side.
2nd Day:
-----
WB1 LLL|Mr. R Shiek 2-0
Did not want to play against this Shiek from the beginning, and was felt discouraged, but they SD'ed twice and wasn't careful of footstools and got two footstools and won.
WB2 Earth Pit 2-1
Something that happened over half a year ago, but at Umebura I lost 4 times in a row, and since then, I had said that Earth-san is impossible, so I really didn't want to fight him. But 1/3 of best 12 was Japanese so I accepted it.
All matches I was wary for dodges and coming up ledge, and gained momentum from preventing recovery and won.
WSF VoiD Shiek 2-1
After winning against R-kun I figured I could just win from that, but he was on a completely different level than any Shiek that I had faced before.
Combo accuracy and spacing was the best in the world and even was wary of footstools so I couldn't do anything I wanted to do, but for some reason he SDed in the first match and won. Next time, I probably won't win.....
WF Ally Mario 0-3
Ally is GOD(directly from post word for word)
He read all my grabs and he would roll away and return grab me again and again and I lost. There was too much of a gap in skill.
LF ZeRo DD, Shiek 3-0
I knew I'd definitely face him, so even when he came to Japan, I didn't fight him.
I killed him with a weird bean kill and used items well to win.
I got a strong vibe that he didn't know Megaman MU, but he was so good at everything, and he lived up to all of my expectations. Really happy I faced him!
GF Ally Mario 1-3
Abadango told me the only character I have left is Yoshi, and even I agreed so first match I used Yoshi.
Early stages, it went well, and I even got a stock lead, but I got hit too much and lost... Sorry YoshiDra...
Second match my Megaman was played against perfectly, and in the 3rd match I finally started playing against him well but I used a bad leaf shield and lost. Confirmed Ally is GOD.
Result was second!
Even I didn't think I could get this far so I was really happy with the result!
It appears that I was the highest placing JPN player ever in EVO(?) so that was good too.
But of course my goal was first place so I wish I did better.
I won't be satisfied with this result and I will definitely win in a foreign tournament.
The Japan stream was at around midnight, but so many people watched so I was really happy! Thank you everyone!
There's another Umebura this weekend, and SAT in August so I will train from the basics again for those tournaments.
I will also enter next year's January's Genesis4, so I will also leave good results there!!!
